"Would like to wear this as a stand alone jacket and be able to add a thin performance layer under it. I measure 41 waist and 46 chest. XL might be tight with a layer but an XXL seems huge. How close to the size chart is this jacket cut?"

"With your measurements given we would recommend going with the XXL. Your measurements fall right at the end of the XL sizing. If you are looking to layer under this jacket with a thin layer we feel that you would be better to go with the larger size. This is a slim fitting jacket and will fit pretty close to the body. "

"As this is an insulating mid-layer how you wear it will determine the warmth rating. It is great underneath a full ski jacket to keep you toasty in the most frigid conditions, or on its own for chilly weather in the fall and spring. It will allow for a shirt or light baselayer underneath."
