"The North Face doesn't provide temperature ratings becuase it depends on so many things. This is an excellent mid-layer in really cold weather, and can be worn over everyday clothes in milder weather. "

"This jacket is made for a number of different occasions! You can wear it alone around town on warmer days or you can zip it into another jacket for extra warmth. It's a really great versatile jacket!"

"No there is not a jacket that is made to be a outer shell for this specific jacket. I do own one of these jackets and though it is not a piece that can be zipped INTO another jacket, it is very comfy and a great investment if it gets at least mildly chilly where you live."

"The North Face does use a plastic zipper for this garment. This brand is really durable and great quality. The North Face stands behind their products with their lifetime guarantee. If there is a defect in the zipper, then that should qualify under The North Face Warranty."
